You are the film (2026)

Who doesn't know the feeling of being in the wrong movie? Madoka feels the same way: The theater author sits in the cinema watching a film about the musician Kazuma – who sits in the cinema watching a film about Madoka – who sits in the cinema watching a film about Kazuma. In disbelief, they stare at each other across the screen. How is that possible? What is happening right now? But then they begin to talk to each other and change the official plot. The story gets more and more tangled and becomes increasingly fantastical.

Multiverse master Makoto Ueda, following his screenplays for BEYOND THE INFINITE TWO MINUTES and RIVER, directs for the first time himself with YOU ARE THE FILM. Once again, he outdoes himself with a collection of whimsical ideas in which elements from different galaxies mix and the space-time continuum increasingly dissolves.
